Eve - Mother of All Living
1. God created Mankind.
“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.” Psalms 8:4-5; Hebrews 2:6-8
“This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.” Gen 5:1-2
a) Both Adam and Eve were created in the image of God. So are each one of us.
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Gen 1:27
Because of the law of natural generation, the lives of men and women are intertwined. Paul wrote: "Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. For as woman was from the man, even so the man also is through the woman; but all things are from God." (1 Cor. 11:11-12).
b) Brothers and sisters in Christ.
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Gal 3:27-28
c) Fill the earth with people.
“Satan is unable to beget sons and daughters.” Jack Hayford. Only Jehovah God has the power to Create and Generate.
“And Adam called his wife's name Eve (Life), because she was the mother of all living.” Gen 3:20
“Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have acquired a man from the Lord." Gen 4:1
d) God authorized Marriage with Adam & Eve.
“And He answered and said to them, ‘Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female.’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’” Matt. 19:4
“Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.” 1 Timothy 5:14
2. The Seed of the Woman.
"But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law." Gal. 4:4
The Eternal Word - God The Son - came as the son of a human mother. He came into our world to be our Savior. He came as the seed of the woman - without a human biological father.
“Nevertheless she [Eve = woman] will be saved in [the] childbearing if they [women] continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.” 1 Timothy 2:15 [The original Bible has "the childbearing."]
MacKnight (a contemporary of Campbell) says: “However, though Eve was first in transgression, and brought death on herself, her husband, and her posterity, the female sex shall be saved equally with the male, through [the] childbearing; through bringing forth the Savior; if they [women] live in faith, and love, and chastity [holiness], with sobriety [modesty] which I have been recommending.”
Probably Paul says some of these things to refute those who said that woman was guilty of destroying the human race. Paul shows us, that if woman brought sin into the world, she also brought the Savior [the seed of the woman, Gen. 3:15]!
3. Companions and partners in salvation.
Salvation is the goal of both the man and the woman. They both achieve great happiness in working out the penalty which God placed on Adam and Eve.
“Paul argues that now, by faith in who Christ is and what He has done, men and women of all races, and of every social class, are offered the opportunity to become inheritors of the promise made to Abraham. By faith and baptism they become part of Christ and part of each other, caught up into the Family of God. Gal. 3:26-29."

KJV - First Printing
First Printing of the King James Version
The very first printed Bible was the Latin Version from Gutenberg’s Printing Press some time in 1454 or 1455.
May 5, 1611, the first printed edition of the KJV came from the press. This Bible was 17½ inches tall and 12 inches wide by 5½ inches thick and weighed 30 pounds. The original KJV 1611 was published in Black Letters (Old English Letters) and it included the Books of the Apocrypha. It also contained an introduction by the Translators, and a justification for their work.
“Translated out of the original tongues and with the former translations diligently compared and revised by His Majesty’s special command. Appointed to be read in Churches.”
1. King James was answering two requests.
a) Shouldn’t there be a standard Bible for the Church? The version approved by King James was to be used by all the Church of England.
b) Shouldn’t there be a standard Church for the Bible. The Church of England was to be the authorized Church. The Book of Common Prayer (how to do it manual) was also produced to standardize the worship, marriages, funerals, etc. (1662). We make use of these forms today (Episcopal).
2. The King James translators and revisors.
These were Christian scholars who read and studied Greek, Hebrew, Latin, as well as German, French, and many others.
a) “For when Your Highness had once out of deep judgment apprehended how convenient it was, that out of the Original Sacred Tongues, together with comparing of the labours, both in our own, and other foreign Languages, of many worthy men who went before us, there should be one more exact Translation of the holy Scriptures in the English tongue:” [from the original introduction of the King James Version Bible.]
They said: "We are so far off from condemning any of their labors that travailed before us in this kind, either in this land or beyond sea, either in King Henry's time, or King Edward's...or Queen Elizabeth's of ever renowned memory, that we acknowledge them to have been raised up of God, for the building and furnishing of his Church, and that they deserve to be had of us and of posterity in everlasting remembrance."
3. To every man in his own language.
“Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.” John 19:19-20 (NKJV)
a) Moses spoke Hebrew (also Egyptian and other languages).
b) The Greek version of the Old Testament (LXX) was used by the New Testament writers. Greek was the universal language of the New Testament world.
c) Latin was the language of the Roman soldiers. The Latin Bible communicated God’s message for more than a thousand years in our Western world. But God speaks all languages and He raised up men who published new versions in German, English, and many other languages. “All of us hear them speaking in our own languages the wonderful things God has done.” (Acts 2:5-11).
d) English became the language of the British Empire. It developed from many roots including Norman French. Since its publication in 1611, the KJV has influenced the language of the English-speaking world, the study noted, generating now-common phrases such as “fight the good fight,” “reap the whirlwind” and “feet of clay.”
More than half of all American adults (62%) own a KJV Bible, and those who read the Bible regularly are more likely to read the KJV. 82% of Americans who read the Bible at least once a month own a KJV, and 67 % of American adults who own a Bible have a KJV.
e) NKJV. Words do change their meanings, and some words are no longer used. The “Search For The Lord’s Way” TV program has switched to the NKJV.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Tim 3:16-17 (NKJV)
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Romans 1:16-17 (NKJV)
“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)

1. God’s opened door.
Rev. 3:7-8. “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens.’ I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”
2. God’s opened eyes.
Isaiah 42:7; Luke 4:17-21. “And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord....Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
3. God’s opened ear.
Isaiah 50:5; John 18:37. “The Lord God has opened my ear; And I was not rebellious.”
“Jesus answered, ‘You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
4. God’s opened Scriptures.
Luke 24:32, 45. “And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

5. God’s opened heart.
Acts 16:14. “Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her house were baptized . . .”

“For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him."

2. Paul gave his witness to the Risen Christ.
“But God raised Him from the dead. He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. And we declare to you glad tidings--that promise which was made to the fathers. God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.'” Acts 13:30-33
“Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;” Romans 1:1-6

3. The Grace of God.
The word grace appears 136 times in the KJV. God's Throne is a Throne of Grace.
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” Titus 2:11-14

What God Wants
Does God Get What God Wants?
This is my Bible, I am what it says I am.
I have what my Bible says I have.
I can do what my Bible says I can do.
I believe I have the Victory which Jesus won. [Hebrews 2:9]
I believe I can resist the devil and he will flee.
I believe the Holy Spirit has poured [Romans 5:1-5]
the Love of God into my heart, and that
I can rejoice with joy unspeakable and
full of glory just as Peter wrote. [1 Peter 1:8]
Thank You, LORD, that my Bible says
You love me and You give me the power [John 1:12-13]
to love You and to follow You all the way.
Thank You LORD for that eternal home
which my Bible talks about,
the City not made with hands.
Thank You, Thank You, O LORD!
What does God desire?
God does desire for all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9). God will save people from all over the world. God really does love everyone. God is the creator of all. If scripture is clear about what God wants, what would keep God from getting it done? It would not be for lack of love or lack of power. Would it be because God gave up trying? We would agree that salvation would not be lacking due to any of those things.
God has compassion on all He has made –
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, And Your saints shall bless You.” Psalms 145:8-10
God’s anger is temporary but His love endures forever –
“Sing praise to the Lord, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Psalms 30:4-5
God wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth –
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,” 1 Tim 2:3-5
We are all God’s offspring –

All the ends of the earth will turn to the Lord and all the families of the nations will bow down Him –

to love You and to follow You all the way.

which my Bible talks about,

What does God desire?
God does desire for all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9). God will save people from all over the world. God really does love everyone. God is the creator of all. If scripture is clear about what God wants, what would keep God from getting it done? It would not be for lack of love or lack of power. Would it be because God gave up trying? We would agree that salvation would not be lacking due to any of those things.
God has compassion on all He has made –
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, And Your saints shall bless You.” Psalms 145:8-10
God’s anger is temporary but His love endures forever –
“Sing praise to the Lord, You saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Psalms 30:4-5
God wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth –
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,” 1 Tim 2:3-5
We are all God’s offspring –

Awesome God of Life and Death
We prepare for the future by looking back to the past. The world seems hopelessly out of control. Yet it has all happened before. We look back to the faith and obedience of those who lived before us. Their words and language may bless our efforts today. See how God blessed them.
Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 12:1. “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, "I have no pleasure in them":
In the Book of Revelation John was told: "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.” Rev 1:17-19
King David spoke as a prophet (Acts 2:30) and his Psalms are inspired words reaching up to God. Again and again David says: “Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise Him, my Savior and my God.”
1. Worship in Spirit and Truth.
a) It is time to begin our worship.
Note Hebrews 12:1-2. “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Lord, we lift our voice to You.
We come together in the presence of almighty God and of the whole company of heaven to offer unto Him through our Lord Jesus Christ our worship and praise and thanksgiving; to make confession of our sins; to pray, as well for others as for ourselves, that we may know more truly the greatness of God's love and show forth in our lives the fruits of His grace; and to ask on behalf of all men such things as their well-being doth require.
b) Life and death are in God’s Hands.
God of life and death,
from the fullness of Yourself
You have created all that is.
Through the power of Your love
You call us towards Yourself.
In the giving of Your Son
our salvation has been wrought.
Our flowering and our passing,
all the seasons of the vine,
belong to You, O Lord.
For these and all Your mercies, we praise You,

REPENTANCE - WHAT IS IT?
“When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life." Acts 11:18
1. The Kingdom of God
“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17
Our Lord sometimes spoke of the new kingdom as already come -- in His own Person and ministry; but it was only "at hand" until the blood of the cross was shed, and the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost opened the cleansing fountain for sin and for uncleanness to the whole world.
“Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” Acts 17:30-31.
Campbell preferred to use the word “reform.” He saw repentance as a “turning away from the world” and turning to God in humble obedience. Some Versions translate it that way.
“But now He commands all of them everywhere to turn away from their evil ways.”
John the Baptist spoke of “doing works worthy repentance.” Matt. 3:8-10.
2. Jesus showed us repentance.
Jesus told a parable to demonstrate repentance.
“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’ He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it (repented) and went. Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. Which of the two did the father’s will?” (Matt. 21:28-31).
Note 2 Cor. 7:10. “For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
Paul shows how this repentance operated in the Corinthians’ lives. “See what God did with this sadness of yours: how earnest it has made you, how eager to prove your innocence! Such indignation, such alarm, such feelings, such readiness to punish wrongdoing! You have shown yourselves to be without fault in the whole matter.”
Repentance is much more than being sorry for sin. There is a “godly sorrow” and a “sorrow of the world.” Note the difference between Peter and Judas in how they reacted to the sorrow for their sin. Peter came to the LORD with sin on his hands and asked for forgiveness - which he received. Judas regretted what he had done, and went out and destroyed himself.
Saul of Tarsus persecuted the Christians. But he did it in ignorance of who Jesus is. “But I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief” (1 Timothy 1:13). Saul repented and this changed his whole life.
In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, the son showed his repentance by saying: “I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” Luke 15:18-19.
The Prodigal took a good look at where he was and what he had gotten himself into. He had no hope and the only solution he could see was to return to the father. At least as a hired servant he would have food & housing and be able to live.
But the father was waiting for him! He ran out to meet the prodigal who was bringing himself back home. Jesus shows us how willing God is to forgive us and save us! God still loves us!!! God eagerly waits for us to come to Him!!!
The Church at Laodicea was spiritually dead but there was still hope. The Lord said: “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous (earnest) and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the [Holy] Spirit says to the churches.” Rev. 3:19.
“If You, LORD, should mark our iniquities, O LORD, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.” Psalm 130:3-4.
