SPOTLIGHT ON JESUS THE
CHRIST
We live in a world that is always in
crisis. But the God who overcame the
forces of Egypt
to set His People free is still our
God. John was given a Vision
which he wrote in the Book of Revelation.
Look to JESUS and His glory! God
was in Christ bringing the world back to Himself (2 Cor. 5:17-21).
1. SATAN OPPOSES AND CONFUSES.
“So the serpent spewed water out of his
mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away
by the flood.” Rev 12:15 (NKJV)
Satan
wants us to think this way. “Just give up! It is all lost. Go and hide. We are
vanquished. Christianity is over. Our time is gone. Anyone with eyes to see
will agree. Greater than waves, tsunamis rather surge against life, against
common sense, against freedom and against innocence! See the crimson tide of
abortion; the green tide of Islam; the pink tide of inversion; the black tide
of pornography; and as a deadly mix of all others, the fluorescent tide of
political correctness.” Verrier
[PS: Yet out of all this rises His Church!]
2. JESUS IN GLORY.
“And behold, the glory of the God of Israel
came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many
waters; and the earth shone with His glory.”
Ezekiel 43:2 (NKJV)
“Then I turned to see the voice that spoke
with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of
the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment
down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head
and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a
flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a
furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand
seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance
was like the sun shining in its strength.” Rev 1:12-16 (NKJV)
“I turn round to see who’s talking. There’s
seven halogen floodlights, solid gold. Right in the middle is the Christ
dressed like a High Priest with a gold belt round His torso. His face and hair
are brilliant white, His eyes are on fire, His feet are glowing bronze like
they’re still in the smelter, His voice is like a wild white-water river. His
right hand’s holding seven stars and His words are like a samurai sword – razor
sharp both sides. Looking into His face is like looking up at the sun.” Lacey on Revelation 1:12-16.
3. FLESH & BLOOD, SKIN & BONES!
“For many deceivers have gone out into the
world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a
deceiver and an antichrist.” 2 John 1:7
(NKJV)
“Forasmuch then as the children are
partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is,
the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime
subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of
angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.” Heb 2:14-16 (KJV)
Jesus is the Human One and He wished to
introduce His companions into the mystery of Life, into the mystery of His
life. He showed them by eating,
sleeping, healing, preaching and praying, just what it means to be the Son of
God. He invited them to share His life, His
inner self, and His presence among them. He allowed them to touch, in His flesh, the
life of the Father. He helped them to
experience, in His gaze, in His going out in power, the newness of praying to “Our
Father.” In Jesus “Abba, Father, Our
Father,” has no trace of routine or mere repetition. On the contrary, it
contains a sense of life, of experience, of authenticity. With these two words, “Our Father,” He knew
how to live, praying, and to pray, living.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again
unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an
inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in
heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-5 (KJV)
“O Lord our GOD, let Your beauty be upon
us! Let us your servants see Your Work
again! Satisfy us each morning with Your unfailing love, so
we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
Our
Father, show us Your approval and make our works successful! How short life is. Teach us to grow in wisdom and love. We pray in the Name of Christ Jesus. Amen.”
