WAITING ON GOD TO ACT

Waiting On God To Act

Christmas and Easter are FACTS the devil cannot destroy. God is presently working in our world.

“Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, 'Behold, I have come--In the volume of the book it is written of Me--To do Your will, O God.' "
Hebrews 10:5-7; Psalm 40:6-8; Phil. 2:8.

The Eternal Word became flesh!

"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." Matt 1:22-23; John 1:14.

“Here we turn to the humanity of Jesus. The (Eternal) Word became man without ceasing to be fully God. The mystery of God Incarnate. He assumed complete human nature, both a physical body and a rational soul - every thing we are, except for sin. As God and man in one Person, Christ accomplishes a redemption that fully heals and saves fallen humanity.” Wallerstedt

1. A promise takes time.

Nothing is too difficult for God. When the time was right, The Eternal Word came into our world in flesh & blood - the Incarnation. “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” Gal 4:4-5 (compare 1 Timothy 2:15)

2. Some were waiting for the Messiah to come.

“While most of Israel was clueless about God’s plan of salvation, and angry about Roman occupation, Simeon knew Jesus was coming - and the Holy Spirit told him he wouldn't die until he saw the Messiah. When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be dedicated, Simeon took the boy in his arms and declared that He was the ‘light of revelation to the Gentiles.”’ (Luke 2:32). Grady

a) Simeon. “And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: "Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel." And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." Luke 2:25-35

b) Anna. “Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.” Luke 2:36-38

3. The Martyrs wait for Jesus to Come Again.

“When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.” Rev 6:9-11

The Book of Revelation gives us the Vision of the Ages. Humanity is marching toward the Climax that God has prepared. Jesus will Come in Power and Glory!!!
